National Training Programmes

Namibia has adopted and developed training programmes in the field of Radiation Safety and Nuclear Science and Technology.

The University of Namibia (UNAM) has developed a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Nuclear Science and Technology.The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of nuclear science and technology, including nuclear physics, radiation protection, nuclear instrumentation, and reactor engineering.

NRPA

The National Radiation Protection Authority offers training on Radiation Safety Awareness. Radiation safety training is a requirement for individuals who may be exposed to radioactive materials or radiation sources. The training covers topics such as legislation, radiation hazards, protection measures, emergency procedures. The training consists of classroom sessions and demonstrations. The training frequency varies as it depends on needs assessments in alignment with the legislations and risk involved for the different occupationally exposed. The NRPA also offers radiation safety awareness for public members, security personnel and custom officers.
